Transition from Coal to Gas

We are thrilled and proud to be part of an extraordinary energy and environmental transformation as Israel’s largest power plant, Orot Rabin, shifts from coal to natural gas. In 2024, we connected Israel Electric Corporation’s flagship station to the natural gas transmission system, marking a new energy era for Israel. We started by connecting units 70 and 80, with infrastructure now underway to connect additional units. This complex project was made possible by INGL’s dedicated teams—engineering, operations, safety, security, legal, finance, and business development—all working in perfect synergy to create the essential natural gas infrastructure for the station.
Israel Electric Corporation has established two new combined-cycle units (7 and 8) at Orot Rabin, in line with government directives. Located north of units 5-6, the new units will replace the coal-fired units 1-4, which are set to be decommissioned. The gas consumption for these two units is approximately 240,000 cubic meters per hour, with each unit generating 630 MW of electricity.
