The Challenge:
Monitoring longitudinal infrastructure spanning hundreds of kilometers requires the deployment of numerous sensors.
The Solution:
Optical sensing along a fiber optic cable attached to the gas pipeline, combined with artificial intelligence, identifies specific disturbances such as leaks, manual digging, excavation by machinery, soil subsidence, and more. Israel Natural Gas Lines (Natgaz) has implemented a system developed by the Israeli company Prisma Photonics, which uses a single sensor to cover a 75-kilometer range along the fiber optic cable attached to the gas pipeline. This system alerts the control room to any detected disturbances that could pose risks to the gas pipeline and company facilities. Notably, Prisma Photonics was the first portfolio company in which Natgaz invested!
